Paul Glennon | Published on 8/1/2025

In 3 weeks, we have our first Social night for the year. Four members will be chatting about their bike travels in Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. We will also hear about other happenings within the Club,..Monday evening 25th at 6.30 pm for a 7 pm start, at the Grange Library.

In just over week starting on Monday the 11th, Lawrence Ferrari has 9 members engaging in a leisurely pedal to discover and explore some Northern Rivers byways, perambulations in fact,…for 4 days of pure enjoyment, except for wind, rain and winter chills,..ah,..but who really cares they said,…

In the same week, Ian Chant has two beaut loop rides out of Boonah, in the Scenic Rim. Down for Thursday 14th and Friday 15th. Always a delightful couple of days away. Boonah being magic at this time of year. Please consider.

If you are not getting out of town for the Ekka week please consider John Stevens Public Holiday East side Ride on Wednesday 13th starting from Minnippi Wetlands Skate Track carpark at 7 am. Please consider.

Iain Moore is calling all those who want to share Tea and Scones on top of the Gateway Bridge to please come along on Sunday17th to partake,..of course you’ll need to ride there,.. Meet at Kalinga Park at 7.30 am.

Iain also has Brunch Sandgate on this Sunday 3rd and 31st leaving Kalinga Park at 7.30 am. Then he has the Saturday Arvo Ride on each of the 5 Saturdays this month. The ride leaves the Windsor train station at 3 pm. Please Consider.

Ian Chant in chatting with several members has taken the initiative to encourage local physiotherapists from Kieser Cooparoo to put an engaging educational evening on the role of strength training for cycling performance and long term health. We will hear how building neck and back strength, improving balance and developing overall muscular control can enhance endurance, reduce injury risk and support better posture on and off the bike. This is down for Thursday evening 28th at Keiser Cooparoo starting at 6.30 pm.

The Regular Rides are on the Calendar to see. These cover The Bayside Breeze Sunday morn the 10th and 24th leaving the Lota Train station at 8.40 am,… Tuesday’s Alt Oasis to Sandgate then Thursday’s Coffee at the Beach (Sandgate) leaving the Nundah Crit track at 7.30 am and the Redcliffe Run also leaving there but at 7 am.

Ride Registrations We have now simplified this process from an 8 step (when is this going to end) to just 3 buttons to press to register for a ride. We have removed the need to sign a waiver on each ride as you have already covered this aspect each time you renew your Club membership. So,..please Register before the ride for each Club ride,…Thank you.

Bike Servicing. Last year I raised the issue of a Bike Service that we found excellent. So recently I had two of my bikes serviced by a not for profit bike workshop, the Salvos in Redhill. The service guy was Jonathan the former lead mechanic at 99 Bikes Everton Park. Just putting it out there that this review may interest some of you. Also noting that BBTA and I do not receive any benefit from providing this recommendation.

Next Month Peter Brennan’s Ballina to Casino Tour is down for the weekend of 13th and 14th September and Registrations are still open. Two beaut days of riding with a fabulous social time to enjoy. Please consider.

And Ian Chant’s Killarney Loop rides are down for Thursday 4th and Friday 5th September for likewise, a great couple of days of riding through the Condamine Gorge and also another day in some great Aussie bush.

And Jerseys – some people have been asking how to get a club jersey. The minimum order requirements is 5 so if you are interested in buying one please let us know. Once we have the numbers we’ll open up our jersey shop on the clubs web page and let everyone know.

Well, thats it for now,..

Go Well,..Be Safe,...Have FUN,

The BBTA Team
