BBTA Code of Conduct.
Respect for Persons
People often hold strong views on any topic, and this is quite OK and normal. Different people often hold opposing views, and this is quite OK and normal. People need to be able to hold strong, opposing views, and as needed, debate vigorously. This is the strength of a democracy.
But this debate needs to be conducted in a manner that does not descend into loud, abusive, belittling or insulting language, unjustified criticisms or insults, yelling or screaming.
Respect for Society
Members of BBTA will abide by the road rules; we are considerate to other road users and pedestrians; we treat others as we would like to be treated ourselves; and do nothing that would bring the name of BBTA into ill repute.
One role of the BBTA committee is to review instances of alleged disrespect to persons or society, to call (always observing the principles of Natural Justice) before the Committee persons who may have exhibited disrespect, and impose any penalties as seen fit, subject to the provisions of our Constitution.
